Wedding couple receives White House swag

When President Obama headed to the cornfields of Iowa earlier this month for a last-minute rally at the Living History Farms in Urbandale, he brought more than a political message.

He brought a potential snafu to a couple who had scheduled their wedding on that very day, at that very place.

The rally ended about an hour before the wedding, good thing, because no bride wants to be upstaged on her special day, even if it is by the President of the United States.

But the rally went off without a hitch. And the bride and groom, well, they not only got hitched, they got some nifty swag, including a handwritten congratulations note from POTUS and FLOTUS, who didn’t stick around for cake, unlike Britain`s royal wedding crashers, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. The queen was visiting Manchester as part of her Diamond Jubilee tour earlier this year, and ended up at the wedding of John and Frances Canning at the Manchester town hall.

So what do you do when you’re the queen and have a few minutes to spare? You look for a party.

Must run in the family.
