Former Parkview star transfers to Evangel

Major League Baseball Draft

SPRINGFIELD, MO - Former Parkview High School all-conference catcher Darin Francis decided to transfer from Missouri State to Evangel this summer.

His situation changed when current MSU starter Luke Voit wasn't selected in the MLB draft.

"They wanted me to go juco for a year," said Francis.  "I looked for schools around here, and found out Evangel had room and they had money.  It gives me a chance to play right away.   I just thought it was in my best interest to go to Evangel."

Francis is well acquainted with the Crusaders staff.  He served as bat boy while current Evangel head coach Lance Quessenberry was at Parkview.  Quessenberry also recruited Francis during his standout high school career.

After redshirting at Missouri State last season, Francis will have 4 years of eligibility remaining.

"I feel good about Evangel.  I’m going to have good opportunities there.  It’s going to be a fun experience.  It’s a chance to start fresh."
