District Attorney to review Merriman's case

The District Attorney's Office is reviewingaccusations of domestic violence that reality TV star Tila Tequilafiled against San Diego Chargers star linebacker Shawne Merriman.

The San Diego County Sheriff's Department turned over itsreports to the DA's office on Wednesday. The DA will review them todecide if charges should be filed.

Merriman was arrested early Sunday after Tequila accused him ofchoking and throwing her to the ground while she was trying toleave his suburban San Diego home. Tequila signed a citizen'sarrest warrant accusing Merriman of battery and false imprisonment.Both are felonies.

Spokesman Paul Levikow said the DA's office can reject theaccusations, or can refer them to the San Diego City Attorney'sOffice for consideration as misdemeanors.
