Project Ethos: Fashion, Music, Art at House of Blues – 9/15

Project Ethos is a touring event series that stops in metropolitan cities all across the nation. Project Ethos is back in San Diego this Thursday night, making a new home at House of Blues. This stimulating, multifaceted event features a packed lineup of art, fashion, and musical entertainment. Inspired by the hit show “Project Runway,” there is a student designer showcase element to the event. Five top students from The Art Institute created one-of-a-kind garments for the event, and they will compete for audience votes in a live runway show for a prize valued at $3,000. There will also be a battle of the bands taking place, as local indie rock bands compete for a chance to play at LA Fashion Week next spring. Furthermore, there will be vibrant displays from seven artists, and select pieces will be on sale. The event starts at 8pm, the fashion show is at 10pm, and tickets are $15 general admission or $40 for a VIP upgrade. Learn more at projectethos.com

3rd Annual Classy Awards at Civic Theatre – 9/17

Now in its 3rd year, the Classy Awards is a Hollywood-style awards show that celebrates philanthropic achievements in our community, including individuals, businesses and charitable organizations that go the extra mile to make a difference. The categories include Charity of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Philanthropic Business of the Year, Most Influential College Student, Most Creative Fundraiser by a Charity and many more. The community voted online, and the winners will be announced during the ceremony on Saturday night at the Civic Theatre. The Classy Awards will be hosted by actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler, and will also feature speakers Adam Garone, CEO of Movember, Yael Cohen, Founder of F Cancer, and more. The Classy Awards is presented by StayClassy.org, and begins at 7pm, followed by the after party at the W Hotel. Tickets are $50 for general admission, or $75 for preferred seating. Oktoberfest, Mercy Me & Switchfoot Concerts at Petco Park – 9/16-8

The weekend kicks off with the Oktoberfest celebration, which boasts brewery tastings and live music before the Padres take on the Diamondbacks at 7:05pm on Friday. Then, alternative rock group Mercy Me will perform live on Saturday, following the Padres vs. Diamondbacks night game at 5:35pm. And on Sunday, local San Diego rock band Switchfoot will take the stage after the Padres vs. Diamondbacks day game at 1:05pm. The events and concerts are free with your game ticket, and offer something for everyone in the family. Learn more at padres.com
