Dave Mecham loves telling a good story in one of the best cities in the world, Los Angeles. Dave's love of L.A. is at the very core of what he enjoys about his job. The range of what he covers, in a city where nearly anything can happen, is another piece.
Dave has traveled coast to coast, reporting on a wide range of stories. Before KTLA, he reported at KCBS and KCAL here in Los Angeles along with stations in Tennessee, Florida, Nevada.
Before broadcast news, Dave wrote for "Entertainment Tonight" and Robin Leach’s syndicated radio programs. He worked in marketing and distribution for E! Entertainment Television and NBC’s "Saved by the Bell."
Dave spent his early years primarily in Spokane with a stop in Honolulu; he later studied at the University of Washington in Seattle and UC Santa Barbara. He also studied at the Poynter Institute, a journalism think tank in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Dave lives in LA's SilverLake neighborhood and enjoys watching the nearby renaissance in downtown LA. Hollywood’s Chateau Marmont and El Coyote Café are some of his favorite places along with hiking Runyon Canyon. He's also a fan of the LA Conservancy and their work preserving the city's historic architecture.Copyright © 2014, Los Angeles Times
