ASHEVILLE, NC (KTLA) -- Evangelist Billy Graham was released from the hospital after a second bout with pneumonia, a hospital spokeswoman said on Tuesday.

Graham, 93, returned to his home in Montreat, N.C., after a six-day stay in the hospital.

"I am grateful for the many thoughts and prayers expressed by individuals across the country and around the world during my stay at Mission Hospital," Graham said in a statement.

Graham, who turned 93 on November 7, was admitted to Mission Hospital Wednesday suffering from a cough, congestion and a slight fever.

He was later diagnosed with pneumonia.

Graham has preached the Christian gospel to millions worldwide and given spiritual advice to numerous U.S. presidents.

Graham suffers from macular degeneration and hearing loss.

His wife, Ruth Bell Graham, died in 2007.
