LOS ANGELES (KTLA) -- The owner of a driving school in Granada Hills has been charged with molesting a student during a driving lesson.

Joselito Valencia Danan, 44, allegedly groped a 17-year-old male student on August 20, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Valencia has run Valleywide Driving School for about a dozen years, and is one of five instructors there.

Employees of the driving school said that the accusations were hard to believe.

"I think it was just more of like a blackmail situation," employee Anthony Van Hartesvelt told KTLA. "He might have just got mad he didn't pass him."

Danan was charged by the city attorney's office with misdemeanor sexual battery of a juvenile.

"Ya, it was surprising," said one student, who had just started his training at Valleywide this week.

"I don't worry personally about anybody trying to touch me," he said. "I'm just here to get my license and get out there and start driving."

The LAPD says that they have already interviewed Danan and taht his arrest is imminent.

Detectives believe there may be more victims.

"The instructor is also the owner of the driving school, so he does have access to young kids that are learning to drive," said LAPD Officer Karen Rayner.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call detectives at (818) 832-0609.
