EarlyGrand Marshals were local heroes, many of them Tournament organizers.The first Grand Marshal from outside Pasadena was San Francisco MayorJames Rolph in 1930, and as the Tournament grew, so did the statureof its Grand Marshals. Mary Pickford, Earl Warren, Dwight D.Eisenhower, Gregory Peck, Bob Hope, Erma Bombeck, Henry "Hank"Aaron, the Apollo 12 astronauts, John Wayne, Frank Sinatra, KateSmith, Gerald Ford, Lee Iaccoca, James Stewart, Pele and AngelaLansbury are just a few of the distinguished individuals who haveheld the honored position. 1966 Grand Marshal Walt Disney rode in theParade with Mickey Mouse, and Edgar Bergen brought Charlie McCarthyalong in 1940. Shirley Temple, who was a 10-year old movie star whenshe led the 50th Rose Parade returned as diplomat Shirley TempleBlack to serve as Grand Marshal of the Tournament's Centennialcelebration in 1989.

The120th Tournament of Roses Parade is Thursday, January 1st, 2009 at8am. Following the Rose Parade, at 2:00 p.m. (PST), the 95th RoseBowl Game presented by Citi will feature an exciting match up betweentwo championship teams in "The Granddaddy of Them All®."The Rose Bowl will be broadcast exclusively on ABC and on ESPN radio.
