SPOKANE, Wa -- Austin Rehkow of Central Valley High in Spokane, Wash., connected on a 67-yard field goal Thursday night -- helping send his team into OT and an eventual 62-55 win against Shadle Park.

To put Rehkow's kick into perspective, the NFL record for longest field goal is 63 yards, set in 1970 by Tom Dempsey of the New Orleans Saints. Dempsey's record has been tied several times -- most recently by the San Francisco 49ers David Akers last month against the Green Bay Packers.

Rehkow's kick, according to MaxPreps.com, was still 1-yard short of the high school record -- a 68-yard field goal kicked in 1985 by Dirk Borgognone of Reno, Nev.

Rehkow was featured on ABC's Good Morning America today. The Seattle Times, citing ESPN.com, says Rehkow has a partial scholarship offer from nearby Eastern Washington. He may be receiving some more offers after his kicking performance on Thursday night.
