Victorville Deputy Shoots, Wounds Knife-Wielding Man

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (KTLA) -- A sheriff's deputy wounded a 53-year-old man Saturday morning in Victorville after the man allegedly tried to attack the deputy with a knife.

The deputy saw the man -- Timothy Gray, of Victorville -- littering just a after 9:15 a.m. near the intersection of Armagosa Road and Midtown Drive, according to a news release issued by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department. When the deputy made contact with Gray, he allegedly started acting erratically.

Gray then charged the deputy with a knife, according to the news release. That's when the deputy shot Gray, injuring him.

Paramedics airlifted Gray to a nearby hospital, and his medical condition has not been disclosed.

The deputy was not injured.
