Gayle Anderson was live at CRUNCH GYM - LOS ANGELES to learn about the new KRANKCYCLE. Johnny G is shattering convention, breaking the rules and challenging us to rethink everything we thought we knew about cardio training. The fitness visionary who created the Spinning® phenomenon, has now invented a new program with his latest innovation, the Johnny G Krankcycle by Matrix. The Kranking Training System is the first exercise program to focus on the upper body as a way to build cardio fitness.

Kranking provides a new way to build aerobic capacity and upper body strength while burning calories and building core stability. Since it utilizes the upper body instead of the legs, it represents a unique cross-training opportunity for athletes of all types.

Johnny partnered with Matrix Fitness to develop the Krankcycle, and it's unlike anything you've seen before. Kranking is fun, intuitive, and easy to learn. It can be used alone on the cardio floor, with a personal trainer, and can be performed in a group setting. It represents an unprecedented opportunity for physically challenged individuals and welcomes a wide range of "special populations" with open arms.

Kranking opens the door to a world of possibility for those who train and for the individuals and organizations who train them. Our special wheelchair, Krankcycle marathoner was Jeremy Newman, who will be competing in the 2010 HONDA L.A. MARATHON PRESENTED BY K-SWISS.

The CRUNCH GYM - LOS ANGELES location on Sunset Boulevard is one of several landmark locations on the NEW 26.2 mile HONDA L.A. MARATHON route featuring a landmark every mile. The spot where Crunch Gym sits is an historic one. 8000 Sunset Blvd was the address of the legendary Schwab's Drug Store, where rumor had it (incorrectly) that actress Lana Turner was discovered while sitting at the counter there, drinking a milk shake. Schwab's was mentioned in the movie "Sunset Blvd", and author F. Scott Fitzgerald had a heart attack there.

When Schwab's was torn down to make way for the shopping center that is there today, the center's main attraction was supposed to be the giant Virgin Megastore, the first Virgin Megastore in the U.S., a 30,000-square-foot entertainment center that wowed 'em in 1992 with 100,000 audio titles, a full-time disc jockey, 75 listening stations, and a cafe serving cappuccino. Belinda Carlisle helped kick off the Grand Opening, and Virgin features occasional live concerts by rock stars like Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Moby and Morrissey. The music downloading phenomenon closed the music location. The same center houses the Laemmle Sunset 5 movie theatres and a California Pizza Kitchen cafe.

In 1997, Crunch gym quietly opened, up on the second floor of the complex. And in no time at all, it became a celebrity Mecca in its own right. We are talking lots of celebs, major ones. So, what Hollywood stars have worked out at Crunch?

Will Smith (who trained there for his turn as Muhammad Ali), Jennifer Aniston (who liked the striptease class), Keanu Reeves, Leonardo DiCaprio, Rene Zellweger, Madonna, Drew Barrymore, Tobey Maguire, Eminem, Neve Campbell, Christina Ricci, Justin Timberlake, David Schwimmer, Ben Stiller, Ben Affleck, Queen Latifah, Jessica Simpson, Heath Ledger, Calista Flockhart, Anna Nicole Smith, Carmen Electra, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Wahlberg, Geena Davis, Fabio, Jerry O'Connell, Joaquin Phoenix, Jeff Goldblum, Fred Durst, David Hasselhoff, Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, Craig Kilborn, Robbie Williams, Portia de Rossi and Alyssa Milano, among others!
