Residents of a downtown home have been evacuated after an underground gas pipe began leaking.

Sacramento Firefighters were called out to the 1900 block of 11th Street for reports of a gas smell at about 8 p.m. They found an underground pipeline was leaking in front of a 2-story 6 unit Victorian Complex.

Complex residents were evacuated as a precaution. PG&E is out at the scene working on repairing the pipe.

11th Street was shut down between S and T Streets. Residents are now being allowed inside the home, but they will have to go at least a day without gas service.
