The parents of slain California teen Chelsea King are leaving northern San Diego County.

Brent and Kelly King and their 13-year-old son, Tyler, will leave their Poway home on Thursday and move back to Naperville, a Chicago suburb where they lived for a decade.

The Kings announced last month that they wanted to return to a place with familiar surroundings where their son can avoid the publicity stemming from his sister's rape and murder.

However, they'll keep a Southern California apartment and a Carmel Valley office for a nonprofit group they founded after Chelsea's death.

Convicted sex offender John Albert Gardner III is serving a life sentence for killing the 17-year-old in February and 14-year-old Amber Dubois last year.
