UFW Outraged Over Maldonado's Comment

Jobs and WorkplaceFamilyAbel Maldonado

Lt. Governor Abel Maldonado's family farm has racked up dozens of violations from the state's workplace safety department since 1990, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Maldonado chocked up the Cal/OSHA citations to the kind of overzealous regulations that are pushing businesses out of California, in response to the newspaper.

The United Farm Workers sent a letter to Maldonado Friday, outraged by that response.

"We fail to see the overzealous regulators you refer to. Rather, the record points to unrepentant agricultural employers," the letter reads in part.

Maldonado's office tells FOX40 Friday that, as a former farm worker, Maldonado takes safety on his family's farm very seriously and welcomes a conversation with the UFW.
