Sacramento-based sports podcaster Carmichael Dave got the conversation going about sponsors leaving the Sacramento Kings.
On Thursday, he sent out a tweet that reached well beyond his followers. It said, “Recapping Kings sponsors jumping ship: OUT: Carls Jr, Sleep Train ON THE ROCKS: Thunder Valley, VSP, Sutter Health. Ouch.”
To clarify, he means Sleep Train is pulling out as a possible title sponsor of the arena.
Sutter Health told FOX40 on Saturday, “We were pleased to provide funding last year to expand our marketing impact in the Sacramento region. Our sponsorship was a business decision, and we’ve decided to apply our marketing dollars elsewhere at this time.”
Another company told us, “Thunder Valley is considering its advertising options inside Power Balance Pavilion for the 2012-2013 season.”
Eye care insurer VSP says there is no truth to speculation that they’re pulling away.
Sponsors are confirming that the Kings are only offering deals for the current season, and not offering multi-year deals.Copyright © 2014, Los Angeles Times
