About half regret their tattoos, removal industry surges

About 22% of college students report having at least one tattoo, and as tattoos become more popular, so does demand for removal procedures. Now, the tattoo removal industry is booming as a result.

The Wall Street Journal reports about half of all people who get tattoos-- later have them removed or at least consider removal. And removing the unwanted ink can be more difficult in certain situations, like if the tattoo is older, if the design contains color or if it's larger than 12 inches.

Tattoo removal can be both painful and expensive. Experts say the average removal requires 10 sessions, with each session costing about $200.
