ROLLA, Mo. -- A woman from Jerome is accused of supplying the prescription drugs that killed her boyfriend last winter. The Phelps County prosecuting attorney last Friday charged Laurie Ann Wilkinson, 43, with second-degree murder and distribution of a controlled substance.
The Phelps County Sheriff’s Department says it got a frantic call from Wilkinson last Feb. 4 that her boyfriend was unresponsive and possibly dead. Emergency responders found the body of Charles Mennemeyer, 23, on a couch in Wilkinson’s home.
Investigators found a large of amount of prescription medicine in the home. An autopsy found the cause of death was choking on vomit because of “polydrug toxicity.” Toxicology tests found carlsoprodol, meprobamate, and trazodone. Investigators believe Wilkinson gave those drugs to Mennemeyer.
Wilkinson was in the Phelps County jail on Monday in lieu of a $250,000 bond.Copyright © 2015, Los Angeles Times
