( Walter Astrada / AFP / Getty Images / October 27, 2008 ) Two boys, fleeing from the town of Kibumba, walk as a tank of the Congolese army moves on the road, about 21.7 miles north of the provincial capital of Goma. Thousands of Congolese people fleet to Goma from the Rugari town and from the Kibumba IDP's camp after violence started between Forces loyal to renegade Laurent Nkunda and the Congolese army. DRC President Laurent Kabila named a new government of "combat and reconstruction" in a bid to pacify the giant central African country, shaken by an upsurge in rebel violence. |
