The Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s long-running Tuesday matinee film series not only is one of the best deals in town — $4 for the public and $2 for LACMA members, seniors and children 17 and under — it also shines a spotlight on some of the biggest stars and filmmakers of yesteryear. This month the series is celebrating the career of actress Rita Hayworth with several of her classic films. On tap Tuesday is 1941’s romance “The Strawberry Blonde,” with James Cagney. Scheduled for March 15 is the delightful 1944 Technicolor musical “Cover Girl,” also starring Gene Kelly. Her most well-known film, 1946’s “Gilda,” screens March 22. And the series concludes March 29 with the 1947 noir “The Lady From Shanghai,” in which she appears with her second husband, Orson Welles. For more information go to www.lacma.org
