By Betsy Sharkey, Times Film Critic As the murdered 14-year-old girl in Peter Jackson's adaptation of the novel, Ronan is an ethereal blessing in a very dark place. The young actress blends innocence, insight, fear, joy and rage to create a surprisingly nuanced performance of someone caught between life and death with unfinished business on her hands. Hers is a face that somehow carries hope when hope is nowhere to be found.
