TV ratings: ‘The Simpsons’ marathon a winner for FXX

Share

Nothing for Homer to “D’oh!” about in the ratings for the recent “The Simpsons” marathon on FXX.

The 552-episode, 12-day marathon of the cartoon elevated FXX to the top of the cable network heap among the key 18-to-49-year-old demographic over that time.

Broadcast from Aug. 21 through Monday, the marathon drew in an average 1.32 million total viewers during cable prime time, according to the network. Roughly 841,000 of those viewers were among the key demo.

The marathon also helped FXX earn the No. 9 spot among the cable networks in total viewer delivery, edging ahead of Nick at Nite.

Roughly 25 million people tuned in at some point during the marathon. It reached its viewership peak on Labor Day, with roughly 1.43 million people in the desired demo tuning in at 7 p.m.

But Simpsons mania is far from over -- it’s a big year for the cartoon, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary.

In October, FXX will launch “Simpsons World,” a customizable website and app for streaming any episode at any time.

Matt Groening’s show will also head to the Hollywood Bowl next week in the world premiere of “The Simpsons Take the Bowl.”

Classic clips from the show will be accompanied by the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra on Sept. 12 and 13.
