TV ratings: ABC tops key demo with ‘Modern Family,’ ‘black-ish’

ABC won the key 18-to-49-year-old demographic on Wednesday night but CBS averaged the most viewers overall.

“Modern Family” topped ratings, averaging 10.9-million viewers and a rating of 3.7 in the key demo, according to Nielsen. “Black-ish” followed in the key demo with a rating of 2.6. About 7.9-million viewers tuned in.

“The Goldbergs” tied for third with CBS’ “Survivor,” with both shows posting a rating of 2.4 in the key demo. The ABC show rounded out the top five most viewed programs overall with about 8.3-million viewers.

Also on ABC, “The Middle” was up 16% with a rating of 2.2 in the key demo. It averaged 8.3-million viewers. “Nashville” had a slight increase in ratings, up 7% with a rating of 1.5 in the key demo.

CBS was No. 1 overall, however, with 9.4-million viewers. The network posted a rating of 2.1 in the key demo.

“Survivor” was the third most watched program of the night with 9.8-million viewers.

“Criminal Minds” was the most watched program on the network and second most watched overall with 10.6-million viewers. It rounded out the top five with a rating of 2.3 in the key demo.

Meanwhile, “Stalker” was up 21% from last week with a rating of 1.7. It averaged 7.9-million viewers.

Meanwhile, NBC’s “Mysteries of Laura” was up 8% with a rating of 1.4 in the key demo. About 8.6-million people tuned in to the Debra Messing show.

The network’s other Wednesday shows -- “Law & Order: SVU” and “Chicago P.D.” -- both dropped from last week.

“Law & Order: SVU” averaged 7.8-million viewers and a rating of 1.8 in the key demo.

“Chicago P.D.” fell 27% from last week but rounded out the top 10 overall programs, averaging 7.2-million viewers.

Fox’s shows “Hell’s Kitchen” and “Red Band Society” stayed even with last week in the key demo.

The Gordon Ramsay cooking show averaged a rating of 1.5 in the key demo. It was up 7% in total viewers with about 3.9-million people tuning in.

“Red Band Society” posted a rating of 0.9 in the key demo and averaged 3-million viewers.
