Justin Lin teases new ‘Star Trek’ costumes and Starfleet patch

Share

Now that "Fast and Furious" director Justin Lin is in the "Star Trek" captain's chair, it looks like Lin's managing his Starfleet crew a lot differently from the ultra-secretive, former director J.J. Abrams. How so? He's already started tweeting photos directly from the set.

Lin posted the very first look of his new "Star Trek" movie directly from his Twitter account. The photo reveals a few details, including a Starfleet logo and a small look at the new "Star Trek" costumes. This isn't confirmation that these are the official Starfleet suits, just the patch, but it's exciting to see a director pulling back the Abrams veil of secrecy that shrouded the last two films.

And that's not all. The words of the tweet itself had a few "Trek" clues from Lin. The message, "Let the next Starfleet voyage begin! #StarTrekBeyond #LLAP," is possibly confirming the long-held suspicion that "Star Trek Beyond" would be the title for the third film in the rebooted "Trek" movie franchise.

The title was first hinted after Paramount purchased the url StarTrekBeyond.com and later reinforced by actor Simon Pegg (who plays Scotty and is also co-writing the new film) pens a message to fans stating, "I better climb aboard the old hypocropter and fly back to writing Star Trek Beyond."

So apart from an official Paramount confirmation, our money is on "Star Trek Beyond" as the new title.
