Brad Pitt roundup: His wedding, his honeymoon, his kids

Share

Brad Pitt is doing the rounds for his World War II tank film “Fury,” but people mainly want to know how married life is treating him.

The currently mustachioed actor, 50, wed fellow Oscar winner Angelina Jolie, his longtime love and mother of his six children, Aug. 23 at their Chateau Miraval in the south of France. Aside from info they shared in the preliminary announcement and in a subsequent magazine cover story, few details have been made readily available.

So here’s a roundup of recent familial soundbites from Pitt -- and by soundbites, we really mean morsels in which he acknowledges various personal topics, if not exactly illuminating them.

On how the kids feel about their parents getting married: “They like it,” he told People and Us Weekly on Thursday at the Washington, D.C., premiere of “Fury.” The actor once confessed that he’d marry Jolie if it were something that was important to their brood.

On their honeymoon in Malta, where they were filming their first co-headlining film since 2005’s “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”: “Our dysfunctional honeymoon,” he quipped to USA Today at the same Newseum event. “Yeah, it was our choice. It’s been fun. It’s been challenging but really fun.”

On the world waiting so long to see them as husband and wife: “Yeah, us too,” he said with a laugh when asked by Australia’s News.com.

On what wedding memory still makes him smile: “The whole day, the whole day,” he told “Access Hollywood.”

On fatherhood: “I’ve discovered I don’t suck at being a dad,” Pitt said in the November issue of Details. He also talked about his upbringing in the Ozarks, his passion for motorcycles and his tumultuous history with cars and bicycles. (He said the gun thing somewhere else.)

On Jolie becoming a dame and their family meeting the queen: “She’s dame commander,” he continued in the “Access Hollywood” interview. “It was a lovely day for our family and it’s a great honor. It’s a really, really it’s a huge honor. I’m very proud of [her] and she’s proud of [it]. Yeah, it was a very great day. It was a really special day for our family.”

Pitt dodged the topic of his personal life altogether during a prerecorded break-dancing bit on “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon.” The actor-producer and the late-night host stunt-doubled their way through the moves while having a wordless conversation about Pitt’s “Fury,” which hits theaters Friday.

On competing against his wife this Oscar season with two World War II films: “She made an incredible movie; [‘Unbroken’ is] big and her film is about the triumph of the human spirit against tremendous odds,” he continued in his interview with Australia’s News.com. “I see the films as distinctly different, I see ours more of a day in the life of a family, 3½ years into war, that have been through Africa, France, Belgium, and now they are in Germany. And again, hers is something different. Hers is Louis Zamperini, this boy who came from nothing and against really great odds, and it’s a triumph of the human spirit and it’s very inspiring in that way. But we are not pitted against each other and I hope it gets everything .... It’s worth seeing.”

It’s the first time in a long time the actor isn’t making promo-tour headlines via questions about ex-wife Jennifer Aniston, so we’ll take it.
