‘Frozen’ singalong returning to Hollywood’s El Capitan

“Frozen” hasn’t cooled off just yet.

Disney’s Oscar-winning musical, which has become the highest-grossing animated movie of all time since its release last November and has grossed more than $1.26 billion worldwide, is returning to El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood for a two-week run of singalong screenings beginning Aug. 22.

Each screening will feature a live performer singing onstage as Elsa (the character voiced by Broadway actress and singer Idina Menzel in the movie), artificial snow inside the theater and a presentation of the new Disney short “Feast.”

The special engagement will also feature “pajama night” screenings Friday and Saturday evenings and breakfast with Elsa on select mornings.

The El Capitan event represents the latest example of Disney milking “Frozen’s” massive success. The movie’s soundtrack has dominated the album charts this year, and the company announced a live touring show of “Frozen” for Disney on Ice in May.

During a conference call with analysts earlier that month, Disney Chairman and Chief Executive Robert Iger said “Frozen” is now considered one of the company’s top five franchises. “You can expect us to take full advantage of that over the next at least five years.”
