What does this Frank Ocean video mean (if indeed it means anything)?

Frank Ocean is still working on his album.

That’s one possible takeaway from a mysterious new video on Ocean’s website. Posted early Monday, the clip (which may be a live stream or merely a loop) shows a person working behind two large work benches in a mostly empty warehouse. Construction noises are occasionally audible, and Apple Music’s logo is visible in the upper-right-hand corner of the frame.

The status of Ocean’s latest record — the highly anticipated follow-up to his Grammy-winning 2012 debut, “Channel Orange” — has been an object of widespread speculation for more than a year.

In April 2015, the R&B singer announced (or seemed to announce) that he’d completed the album, to be called “Boys Don’t Cry,” and that it would be out in July of that year. To the chagrin of many on Twitter, that didn’t happen, though a new website did.

Last month, Ocean updated the website, boysdontcry.co, with an image of a library due-date card stamped with dates including July 2016. Now that month has come and gone as well.

Though the album hasn’t materialized, Ocean hasn’t been silent. He appeared on Kanye West’s “The Life of Pablo” and contributed to James Blake’s “The Colour in Anything,” posed for a Calvin Klein advertising campaign and wrote movingly on Tumblr following the recent mass shooting in Orlando.

A representative for Ocean declined to comment regarding the video.
