The Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Playboy Jazz Festival are making music together again.

After joining forces last year to put on the annual two-day festival at the Hollywood Bowl, the organizations will re-team for the 2015 edition, they were expected to announce Tuesday.

What’s more, Herbie Hancock, the Phil’s creative chair for jazz, is among the artists scheduled to appear at the 37th annual event, which is scheduled for June 13 and 14. The veteran keyboardist will perform alongside saxophonist Wayne Shorter, his longtime collaborator and former bandmate in Miles Davis’ vaunted ‘60s-era quintet, and the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance Ensemble.

In a statement, L.A. Phil President and CEO Deborah Borda said the Phil was “delighted” to continue working with Playboy and that the orchestra was “committed to jazz at both our venues,” referring to the Bowl and downtown’s Disney Hall.

Other performers on deck for this year’s festival include Eddie Palmieri and the Afro-Caribbean Jazz Band and the Grammy-winning jazz-funk group Snarky Puppy. In a long-standing Playboy tradition, the show will also feature an R&B act, in this case Aloe Blacc, the L.A.-based soul-pop singer known for his 2014 hit “The Man.”

The event’s full lineup is to be announced March 3, organizers said, the same day that single tickets go on sale. Subscribers were to be sent ticket order forms on Tuesday.

Last year the Phil brought together George Benson, Arturo Sandoval, Dianne Reeves, Jamie Cullum and Fantasia, among others, for a typically convivial production in which, The Times said, “Jello shots flew overhead like bats and tricolored plastic bunny ears blinked blearily in the darkness.”

Comedian George Lopez will host this year’s festival, his third time in the role since he took over from Bill Cosby in 2013.
