Former Twins outfielder Jason Kubel fielding offers on Calabasas home

Here’s a place for perfecting your home run swing: Former Highland High School star and Minnesota Twins outfielder Jason Kubel has put his Calabasas home with a custom batting cage on the market for $3.5 million.

Set against a hillside in the Mureau Estates community, the Tuscan-inspired home centers on sprawling grounds with a swimming pool, a putting green and a playground with a sunken trampoline. The fenced batting cage, complete with a pitching machine, sits at the rear of the acre-plus property.

Within the 5,676 square feet of living space is a rotunda entry, large formal spaces, an atrium, a home theater and a cook’s kitchen with two islands. Arched doorways, wood floors and raised ceilings with exposed beams are among the interior details.

The master suite sports a fireplace, a large soaking tub and a walk-in closet. A total of five bedrooms and six bathrooms includes a separate guest casita.

Outdoors, a covered cabana with an outdoor kitchen complements the lagoon-style pool, which has a raised spa, a water slide and a waterfall feature.

A large motor court and a four-car garage mark the entrance to the home.

Kubel bought the house in 2010 for $1.945 million, property records show.

Kubel, 33, starred at Palmdale’s Highland High in the late 1990s and was drafted out of high school by the Twins in 2000. He spent the majority of his career with Minnesota as well as stints with the Arizona Diamondbacks and Cleveland Indians.

He is currently a free agent.
