Former Angel Jim Edmonds shuffles his real estate lineup
Former Angels outfielder Jim Edmonds, who put his Irvine estate back on the market earlier this year, has listed his golf course home in La Quinta for sale at $1.65 million.
The Mediterranean-style villa, built in 2003, sits along the Clive Clark-designed golf course on about a quarter of an acre at The Hideaway community. Entered through a courtyard with a fountain, the open-plan home features contemporary interiors with raised ceilings, stone fireplaces and travertine throughout.
There are large formal rooms, an updated kitchen, a den, three bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms in nearly 3,300 square feet of space. The master suite has dual sinks and a soaking tub, and one guest en-suite sports a wet bar.
Designed for indoor-outdoor living, glass doors in the living room open to reveal an entertainer’s patio with an outdoor kitchen, a fire pit and a pool with a spa. Desert landscaping, set off by golf course and mountain views, completes the resort-like setting.
Records show that the 44-year-old paid $1.6 million for the home in April. Hideaway Properties holds the listing.
Edmonds has been in buy-sell mode for much of 2014, selling two properties, purchasing another and relisting his home in Irvine.
On the sell side, the retired ballplayer parted ways with a 4,770-square-foot home in the same La Quinta community in April for $2.225 million, property records show. In July, he sold a four-bedroom home in Chesterfield, Mo., for $300,000.
On the buy side, he purchased a two-story Traditional in the Fair Oaks suburb of St. Louis in May for $1.275 million. The half-acre property counts a pool, a waterfall and a zip-line among its features.
Currently for sale in Orange County is his Santa Barbara-style residence, which returned to the market in October at $6.95 million, down from $7.999 million. The 10,000-square-foot residence has six bedrooms, a gym, a movie theater, a wine cellar and a gym with a sauna spread across three stories.
He also maintains a residence in Huntington Beach.
Edmonds played 17 seasons in the majors, much of that time in an Angels and Cardinals uniform, finishing his career with eight Gold Glove awards, four All-Star nods and one World Series title. He currently works as an analyst for Fox Sports Midwest.
