Kate Upton and Justin Verlander buy Kenny G’s former home in Beverly Crest
As their wedding day approaches, it appears Kate Upton and Justin Verlander have settled on a marital home — at least, during the offseason. The model-actress and professional ballplayer recently paid $5.25 million for an estate behind gates in Beverly Crest, The Times has confirmed.
With the purchase, Upton and Verlander are now links in a chain of ownership that reads like a who’s who of stars. Among former owners is saxophonist Kenny G, who sold the house in 1998 to tennis great Pete Sampras for $2.5 million.
Sampras would later sell the home to producer Jon Peters, whose credits include the superhero flicks “Man of Steel” and “Batman.” Actress Kate Jackson of “Charlie’s Angels” fame and television producer-director William Asher are also former owners.
The estate, built in 1976, centers on a remodeled traditional-style home with five bedrooms and six bathrooms. The living space of 5,706 square feet features vaulted and beamed ceilings, hardwood floors and a great room with a fireplace. An updated kitchen opens to a family room with a wet bar.
Outdoors, a sunken tennis court designed for Sampras sits below the main house. The estate also includes a swimming pool, lawns, mature trees and a guest house.
The house had been listed last year for as much as $6.795 million, records show. More recently it was offered for $5.475 million. Hat tip to TMZ for first reporting the purchase.
Judy Feder of Hilton & Hyland, an affiliate of Christie’s International Real Estate, and Steve Frankel of Coldwell Banker shared the listing. Susan Smith, also of Hilton & Hyland, represented the buyers.
Upton, 24, is known for her appearances on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Among her acting credits is the film comedy “Tower Heist” (2011) and “The Other Woman” (2014).
Verlander, 33, won the American League Cy Young award in 2011. A six-time all-star, he has 173 wins across a dozen seasons with the Detroit Tigers.
