Nissan's Drive Electric Tour debuts at AltCar Expo, allowing behind-the-wheel drives of its all-electric Leaf to the public for the first time. Offering a 90-mph top speed and 100-mile range per charge, the five-door compact is powered with lithium-ion batteries that can be refueled with a DC fast charger, or 240- or 120-volt chargers that take between 30 minutes and 20 hours to charge. Priced at $32,780 the Leaf is eligible for a $7,500 federal tax credit and $5,000 rebate through the California Air Resources Board. It can also be driven in the carpool lane. Twelve Leafs will be available for six-minute street drives Friday (9 a.m.-6 p.m.), Saturday (8 a.m.-6 p.m.) and Sunday (8 a.m.-5 p.m.). Reservations recommended through www.drivenissanleaf.com.
