Barefoot Dreams founder sells Malibu contemporary for $3 million

Annette Cook, the founder and chief executive of Barefoot Dreams, and her husband, Stan,have sold an ocean-view contemporary in Malibu for $3 million.

The gated home, built in 1983, has four bedrooms and four bathrooms in 4,089 square feet. It sits on 1 1/2 acres with lawns and fruit trees. There are stone patios, a built-in barbecue, a fire pit and a spa. A separate guest suite with a den, a bathroom and a kitchen sits above the three-car garage.

Cook has appeared on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” and “The Big Idea With Donnie Deutsch,” among other shows, to discuss her business success, born out of the need to pay off $85,000 in student loans. Barefoot Dreams’ robes and throw blankets were selected for the annual “Oprah’s Favorite Things” episode in 2003. The line includes newborn, toddler and children’s wear.

The Cooks own two other Malibu properties: a 5-acre ocean-view mansion and a five-bedroom compound.

Mike Cunningham of Pritchett Rapf & Associates’ Malibu Colony office represented the Cooks on the sale. He also represented them in the purchase of the five-bedroom compound.
