Gwyneth Paltrow’s new footwear collaboration with M.Gemi is California cool

If you’ve ever wished for a fairy god-Gwyneth to help you get ready in the morning, a new collaboration between her blog and brand Goop and post-luxury footwear company M.Gemi means she’ll now be there for you whether you’re running errands, heading to a chic summer party or going to a meeting (green juice in hand, naturally). In this case, the Gwyneth mentioned is Academy Award winner Gwyneth Paltrow.

“I wanted to partner with M.Gemi because they are focused on a consumer model that we are obsessed with at goop.com: creating beautifully and thoughtfully made aspirational products and delivering them at a direct-to-consumer price point,” Paltrow said in an email. “M.Gemi makes high-quality, artisan-made Italian shoes — using the same factories that make shoes that retail for $1,000 — but sells them at a fraction of the price because of their e-comm structure.”

The collection consists of four styles to complement the usual Angeleno wardrobe. A pointy-toed flat in neutral snakeskin (Gwinetta, $348) feels destined to go with your skinny jeans, while the near-naked high-heeled sandal (La Paltrow, $348) will fare well with beach caftans and evening gowns alike. A gladiator sandal (Cetona, $248) has a slightly subversive feel that’s just right for sexing up daytime dresses. And the white sneaker feels perfect for pairing with a mini skirt for a hot-mom-on-the-go vibe (Exhibit A: Paltrow seen wearing in the $278 Reschio).

The common thread is the ankle strap, designed to highlight the slimmest part of the leg, drawing the eye exactly where you want it. It’s an especially welcomed touch on the sneaker, a silhouette rarely known for being flattering. And the whiff of ’80s-era Nike’s Air Force One – perhaps the best-known be-strapped sneaker – seems to add an extra layer of cool.

It’s probably safe to say these shoes are the closest you’ll come to looking exactly like Paltrow – from the ankle down, at least.

Prices range from $248-$348; available on Goop.com.
