Jacques Derrida

French philosopher Jacques Derrida at his home in Ris-Orangis, south of Paris. Derrida, revered as the founder of the deconstructionist school, had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2003. His writings were thought by some to be obscure and nihilist.
