OVERVIEW

The Callaway name is synonymous with mean-and-must-be-seen Corvettes. And its C16 Speedster celebrates 20 years of that connection plus 30 years in the business. This made-to-order beauty has been designed with style and aerodynamics sharing equal importance.

Power (and a lot of it) comes from a hand-built all-alloy engine. The race-inspired chassis is adjustable for specific road conditions. In place of a conventional screen, the topless cockpit has two wind deflectors.

Just behind the seats, at the beginning of the “flying buttresses,” are integrated carbon fiber helmets for when the going gets going. When it comes to a stop, it’s by virtue of carbon ceramic brakes. The car is built in California and Connecticut, and its hand-tooled leather interior comes from Germany.

OUR TAKE

Well, it’s not much good for the weekly food shop or dropping the kids off at school, but potential owners probably won’t care about that. They’ll just care about having an exclusive set of wheels that turns heads so violently that most buyers will probably be chiropractors. It’s a beautiful anomaly in the car world, and let’s just be glad it exists.
