Earthquake: 3.0 quake strikes near Searles Valley

A shallow magnitude 3.0 earthquake was reported Tuesday morning 22 miles from Searles Valley, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 11:33 a.m. Pacific time at a depth of 0.6 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 37 miles from Ridgecrest, 75 miles from California City and 77 miles from Pahrump, Nev.

In the last 10 days, there have been no earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
