Boy, 13, arrested in fatal stabbing at East Los Angeles middle school

A 13-year-old boy was arrested Saturday in connection with the stabbing death of a another teenage boy at an East Los Angeles middle school Friday.

The stabbing occurred about 3:10 p.m. Friday at David Wark Griffith Middle School, officials said. The victim was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead. The suspect, whose name was not released, was arrested at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, according to authorities. He was booked on suspicion of murder. No other details were released.

Lt. Holly Francisco of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said Friday that the victim was a 14-year-old boy who attended nearby Garfield High School. The teen had been sitting in a semi-open corridor of the middle school when the suspect approached him and stabbed him with an unknown object. No weapon has been recovered, Francisco added.
