California Highway Patrol officials said the officer suffered “major injuries” in the collision with a silver Toyota.

A view from a KTLA-TV news helicopter showed a severely damaged motorcycle next to the freeway’s center divider.

The CHP issued a SigAlert and partially blocked the freeway while firefighters attended to those involved in the crash.
