An armed man has barricaded himself inside an SUV Friday afternoon in Anaheim after allegedly robbing a Fry’s Electronics store, authorities said.

SWAT team members launched “pepper-balls” inside the vehicle after attempts to convince the man to turn himself in failed, said Lt. Bob Dunn, spokesman for the Anaheim Police Department.

The vehicle was in the parking lot of a car dealership in the 1300 block of North Tustin Avenue.

The incident was sparked after two armed men robbed a store in the 2300 block of La Palma about 2 p.m., Dunn said. Witnesses said the two men fled in a dark SUV.

Minutes later, a dark-colored SUV was in an accident on East Miraloma and North Tustin avenues. According to the 911 call, two men were seen running from the vehicle.

A California Highway Patrol officer was able to detain one of the men with the help of witnesses, Dunn said. Other bystanders said another man pointed a handgun at people standing on a corner and fled into the auto dealership.

Authorities located the man inside an SUV, but he refused to get out.
