A fire that swept through a portion of actor Pierce Brosnan’s beachfront home in Malibu late Wednesday caused an estimated $1 million in damage, sheriff’s officials said.

The fire broke out inside the garage of the actor’s multimillion-dollar Broad Beach mansion. Broad Beach is home to a number of Hollywood celebrities as well as wealthy business people.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s arson investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.

Officials said the fire broke out at 9:48 p.m. inside the home’s two-story garage in the 31000 block of Broad Beach Road. Flames spread up to a bedroom above the garage.

It took firefighters more than 30 minutes to extinguish the flames, but no one was injured, officials said.

Brosnan’s garage suffered fire damage and its contents were destroyed, sheriff’s officials said.

Video from the scene showed flames spewing out of a portion of the home’s roof. Brosnan, the star of several James Bond films, appeared to be talking to firefighters as they battled the flames.

The home, at 13,000 square feet on 120 feet of beachfront, is estimated to be worth about $18 million, according to online real estate database Zillow. It is on a street with average property values of more than $10 million.
