A U.S Coast Guard helicopter made a hard landing Monday and flipped on its side, officials said.

All three crew members abroad the helicopter were not injured and "walked away" from the crash, according to the San Francisco International Airport.

The helicopter crew was practicing their hovering techniques near the airport, KPIX-TV reported.

It is unclear what went wrong, but the helicopter landed at 2:50 p.m.

The U.S. Coast Guard’s air station borders the airport and houses four helicopters. Crew members who worked out of the station, provide search and rescue efforts and cover 300 miles of coastline from Point Conception to Fort Bragg.
