Woman fatally stabbed two blocks from USC campus
A woman was fatally stabbed with a broken glass bottle two blocks from USC’s South Los Angeles campus on Friday night, police said.
The incident on the 1200 block of West 36th Place occurred around 8 p.m. Friday and is not believed to have involved USC students or staff, police said.
The female victim was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead, and a man was later taken into custody for questioning, Los Angeles police Officer Sally Madera said.
This year, USC announced new measures aimed at better protecting its student population -- as well as the rest of the campus -- after the slayings of three Chinese graduate students over the last two years.
