Fans gather at L.A. Live rally for World Cup champion U.S. women’s soccer team
Soccer fans are fired up as they get ready to celebrate with members of the U.S. women’s national soccer team in their first public appearance since winning the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Members of the U.S. women’s national soccer team will be honored Tuesday with a rally in Los Angeles in their first public appearance since winning the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Coming off its victory in Vancouver, Canada, the 23-member team will greet fans at the L.A. Live entertainment complex next to Staples Center. The free public celebration begins at 11 a.m.
A handful of soccer fans had already gathered at L.A. Live by 7 a.m. Tuesday, ready to meet the newly minted champions.
The women’s team routed defending champion Japan in a 5-2 victory Sunday, bringing home a record third championship and the first Women’s World Cup title since 1999.
