1. What can I do to help?

2. My uncle Archie (now deceased) and my aunt Virginia have lived in S. Central for over 50 years. They were one of a few white families that lived in the area and I spent many weekends and summers at their home. I loved the charm and the diversity that the area offered. I learned many things from the other children in the neighborhood during the racially tense 1960's, no tolerance for racism being the most important. I will be visiting SoCal for vacation this next two weeks and will go to see my aunt and cousins and I will remember the good old days. I wish the people there would make these the good old days.

3. I work at a South Central high school for most of my waking hours. My students are smart and resilient, despite the inadequacies of our school system. I have been to several warm and lovely homes. 95% of all the families I call are excited to hear from a teacher. They want to know how they can help me and their children. It seems to me that South Central has very few parks, very few fun places for teenagers to spend time, and very few programs for sports, arts, or work in which these children can involve themselves. Let's talk about how we seem to be blaming the victims...

4. I have yet to see any City turn around once it goes bad; look at Detroit, Cleveland, and Memphis, and other cities that have gone down, to learn what the end will look like. Forget it, South L.A. is what it is, and will always be that way for years to come. Only thing to do is escape will or if you can or just put up with it. It's kind of a Jerry Springer mind set that lives in these areas. It took me 30yrs before I woke up and got out! I lived only a block away from where the 1992 riots broke out.

5. Don't you just ask yourself how many of these people are illegals? They live on violence, drugs and self-preservation.....no matter what the cost and no matter who gets hurt. The neighborhoods who want peace would do better to rely on the police and not on those self-proclaimed leaders who would take away their ability to stand on their own and determine their own destiny. There are plenty of areas in the world as poor or poorer. Poverty is no excuse for lawlessness.

6. To Igb man.................Our country is in such a mess because of all the bleeding heart liberals, the ex hippies in three piece suits and the ACLU. Our rights have gone down the drain because the silent majority stayed that way..........through thick an thin. I wasn't stylish to complain. Now it isn't politically correct. So now we bite the bullet. We have only ourselves to thank. Now, all of a sudden people have taken off their dark glasses and are really paying attention. Use your clout at the voting place.

7. Jerry Lee....excuse me, but you must be out of your mind. Legalize drugs? OMG! Every drug dealing cartel will be over the border from Mexico as quick as a flash. And we don't have enough drug problems here already? Get a grip!

8. WHY CANNOT SOMETHING BE DONE OTHER THAN GIVING CONTRACTS TO DISHONEST PEOPLE WHO ARE BUDDIES OF THE POLITICIANS. THIS IS A TOTAL DISGRACE. IF THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE THERE WOULD TAKE SOME INITIATIVE AND SOME PRIDE IN THEIR COMMUNITY AND TAKE MATTERS INTO THEIR OWN HANDS, DRIVING OUT THOSE WHO WOULD PLAY HAVOC WITH PEOPLES LIVES, PERHAPS THINGS WOULD IMPROVE. THE CITY IS GOING TO DO NOTHING EXCEPT COMPLAIN AND THE PRESS WILL DO NOTHING BUT WRITE ABOUT THIS MESS.

9. as a residen in South Central Los Angeles I feel sad to see so much crime and graffiti. Our streets have been taken over by gang members that have made it there business to ruine our walls. South Central does not feel safe any more. There was a time coming home was peaceful now i dread coming home from work. We need change however in this troublesome times change is not feasable.
