Firefighters brace for another day of intense heat, winds
Firefighters were bracing for another day of hot, windy conditions after battling several small brush fires on Tuesday.
Strong Santa Ana winds are in the forecast for many parts of Southern California, along with temperatures hitting 100 degrees inland.
The fire danger is expected to remain through Thursday evening.
On Tuesday, 62 acres burned in the Kagel Canyon area of Lake View Terrace.
The fire was reported about 2:30 p.m. near 11700 Terra Vista Way, according to Erik Scott, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Some buildings were threatened for a time, and residents of 20 homes were under a voluntary evacuation, Scott said. But water-dropping aircraft were aggressive in battling the flames and preventing any homes from being damaged.
After 500 personnel battled the blaze for over two hours, the fire was 95% contained, Scott said.
