Robert Bellack Named New CFO of Los Angeles Times Communications

LOS ANGELES, October 13, 2003 -- Los Angeles Times Communications announced today that Robert Bellack has been named its new senior vice president, chief financial officer. Bellack replaces Jim Shaw, who is retiring from the company.

Since 1997 Bellack has served as senior vice president, chief financial officer of Classified Ventures, a joint venture between Tribune and other media companies that focuses on online classifieds. Before that, Bellack was director of business development at the Chicago Tribune from 1996 to 1997, and served as vice president of administration and operations/CFO, and vice president and director of finance/CFO at Compton’s New Media, a Tribune Company, from 1994 to 1996.

In 1994 he served as vice president and general manager of Americomm Direct Marketing for the Chicago Tribune. Prior to that, he held various line operating and analytical management roles at the newspaper. Bellack began his career at Tribune Company as a staff auditor in 1985.

Bellack has a bachelor of science degree, summa cum laude, from DePaul University and an MBA from J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.

The Los Angeles Times, a Tribune Publishing company, is the largest metropolitan daily newspaper in the country and the winner of 30 Pulitzer Prizes, including three this year in national reporting, feature writing and feature photography. The Times publishes five regional editions covering the Los Angeles metropolitan area, Orange and Ventura counties, San Fernando Valley and an Inland Empire edition covering Riverside and San Bernardino counties, as well as a National edition.
