The 19th-ranked Rams (11-5, 3-1) missed their first seven shots and went into the second quarter trailing, 19-6.

Behind the defense of Mary Has and the offense of Jeanette Tucker, who finished with 21 points, they pulled to within 26-20 with 2:17 to go in the half.

Then came Poly’s 23-0 run. The lead eventually stretched to 60-25.”That’s been our forte,” said Poly Coach Carl Buggs, whose team went on a 16-2 run to wipe out a 28-18 halftime deficit against No. 8 Long Beach Wilson on Wednesday. “Every game we’ve played we’ve had a run.”

Latoya Fairley scored 16 and Phillips 14 for Poly, but Phillips also held Dove without a field goal until the first minute of the fourth quarter, and by that time, Poly held a 34-point lead. Dove finished with eight points.
