San Clemente repeated as Southern Division champions, shooting a team score of 400 for a 35-shot victory over Irvine University Friday at El Prado Chino Creek Golf Course in Chino Hills.

Ryann O’Toole led the Tritons with a two-under 71. University, third-place finisher Corona del Mar and fourth-place Irvine Northwood joined San Clemente as quilifiers for the Southern Section finals Monday at Las Posas Country Club in Camarillo.

Defending state champion Rolling Hills Estates Peninsula edged Alhambra Keppel by one shot and won its fourth consecutive divisional title with a team score of 393 Thursday at Yucaipa Valley Golf Club.

Shannon Yocum shot three-under 69 and Mariko Makabe had a 73 for the Panthers, but a career-best 88 by No. 5 scorer Lsi Shan Lau proved crucial in the one-shot victory. Tina Eng shot 71 and Dorothy Lee shot 76 for Keppel, which was runner up to Peninsula for the second consecutive year.

Cerritos shot 407 and finsihed third and Villa Park was fourth with 432. The top four teams advance to the Southern Section finals Monday at Las Posas Country Club in Camarillo.

In the Eastern Divisional, Long Beach Wilson edged Torrance and Palm Desert at Seven hills Golf Club in Hemet. Wilson, led by Patti Chawalitmetha’s one-over 73, shot 400. Angela Park shot a tournament-best 70 to lead Torrance, which finished eight strokes back.

Palm Desert had five scores between 80-83 and shot 409 and Paloma Valley was fourth with a 442.

Defending Southern Section champion Goleta Dos Pueblos shot 424 at River Ridge Golf Club in Oxnard and won the Northern Divvisional by 14 strokes over Valencia. Sarah Fox shot 79 to lead Dos Pueblos, which won its third consecutive Northern Divisional title.

Saugus, led by medalist Melanie DeLeon’s three-under 69, shot 445 and finished third. Newhall Hart was fourth, giving Foothill League teams three of the top four spots.

The Southern Divisional will be played today at 8 a.m. at El Prado Golf Course in Chino Hills. Defending champion San Clemente is favored.

Agoura’s Amanda Goodman shot a four-over-par 39 and was the individual champion by nine strokes after the fourth and final round of the Marmonte League finals at Sunset Hills Country Club on Wednesday. Westlake’s Ashley Freinberg had the best score of the day, carding a 38 to edge into third place. Second-place finisher Hillary Packard from Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley’s Nicole Pechi, who took fourth, rounded out the top four finishers, all of which will advance to the CIF Individual Finals at Desert Lakes Country Club on November 11.

Westlake, Moorpark and Agoura took the top three team spots respectively, with Moorpark edging Agoura on a card-off. All three teams will advance to the CIF Team Finals at River Ridge Golf Club on Thursday.

Senior Jennifer Campbell defended her Century League individual title for Brea Olinda as she carded a 17-over 161 over 36 holes at Rancho San Joaquin Golf Club in Irvine. Junior Hannah Shin of Villa Park finished second overall, five shots behind Campbell. Campbell and Shin were the only two players who qualified for the CIF Individual Finals at Mission Lakes Country Club in Desert Hot Springs. Both have qualified for the finals each year of their high school career.

EMPIRE LEAGUE

Orange Lutheran 232, Cypress 270
Medalist Lalita Patipaksiri shot a one-under-par 35 at Black Gold Golf Course for host Cypress (4-6 in league). Kelly Larsen shot a 41 for Orange Lutheran (14-5, 9-1), which tied for first place in league with La Palma Kennedy. Empire League Finals start Friday at El Prado Golf Course.

FOOTHILL LEAGUE INDIVIDUAL FINALS

Medalist Melanie De Leon of Saugus shot a 37 Monday at par-37 Woodley Lakes Golf Course and a 78 at par-74 Valencia Country Club today. Stevy Loy of Valencia shot 41-84--125, good for second place and Stephanie Aston of Saugus shot 41-85--126 to earn third place and the final spot in the CIF Individual Finals for the Foothill League.

La Reina sophomore Samantha Katz earned medalist honors on the day with a seven-over-par 79 on Tuesday, but freshman teammate Kelsey Conway wrested the Frontier League individual title from senior teammate Alana Maiello as La Reina swept the top three spots in the league tournament at Olivas Golf Course in Ventura.

Conway shot 84-82 for a two-day score of 166, four shots better than the second-place Maiello, the defending league champion who scored 87-83 to finish four shots back at 170 overall. Katz finished third at 92-79-171. She was followed by Nordhoff’s Megan Swann in fourth at 87-94-181 and fifth-place Lauren Radke of Oaks Christian with a 96-94-190.With their top-three finishes, Conway, Maiello and Katz qualified for the Southern Section individual tournament on Nov. 11 at Mission Lake Country Club in Palm Desert.

GOLDEN WEST LEAGUE FINALS

Piper Miller of St. Margaret’s shot a 149, and Justine Chin of Sage Hill a 150 at par 70 Costa Mesa Country Club to advance to the section finals next Thursday in Palm Springs.

IVY LEAGUE FINALS
at Temeku Hills Golf and Country Club--Par 36
at Hemet Landmark Golf Course--Par 71

Nicole Smith of King finished first by shooting a 33 at par-36 Temeku Hills Golf and Country Club and a 75 at par-71 Hemet Landmark Golf Course for a total score of one-over-par 108. Sommer Scholl also of King finished second with at 40-76--116 and Natalie Guidry of Great Oak finished third with a 45-97--142.

Smith and Scholl will represent the league at the CIF Individual Finals on Thursday, Nov. 11 at Mission Lake Country Club in Desert Hot Springs. Smith was the 2001 Southern Section Individual Champion as a freshman.

Denyse Neville, Lauren Telliard and Cynthia Gazzolo of Riverside Poly, Samantha Miller and Joscelyn Sanchez of King and Kate Runyan of Ramona also finished in the top eight to earn all-league honors.

Agoura’s Amanda Goodman will take a seven-shot lead into tomorrow’s final round at Sunset Hills Country Club after shooting a one-over 36 in the third round. Goodman had the low round of the day, which was two shots better than Hillary Packard of Thousand Oaks, who is in second place with a three-round total of 122. Goodman has carded rounds of 39, 40 and 36. Nicole Pechi of Simi Valley and Ashley Frienberg of Westlake are in position to qualify for the CIF Individual Finals as they sit in third and fourth place respectively. Pechi is at 127 after three rounds and Freinberg has a 131.

MISSION LEAGUE

Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 173, Louisville 245
Faith DeGuzman of Notre Dame (8-5, 7-3) shot a one-over-par 28 through seven holes at Woodland Hills Country Club. Kaitlyn Gelpi shot a 47 for host Louisville (0-10, 0-10). The make-up match was shortened due to darkness.

Junior Katherine Suarez of Santa Margarita carded four birdies in her one-over round of 73 as she won going away at the Serra League finals at Strawberry Farms Golf Club. Suarez has qualified for the CIF Individual Finals for three consecutive years. Senior Allison Ek of Lakewood St. Joseph will join Suarez after shooting a 154 over 36 holes, finishing 10 shots behind. Junior Joella Zapanta of Rosary was one shot back at 155 and finished third. Sophomore Kalyn Dodge of Mater Dei shot 163 over 36 holes and will join Suarez, Ek and Zapanta at the CIF Individual Finals on Nov. 11 at Mission Lake Country Club in Desert Hot Springs. Santa Margarita, Rosary and Mater Dei will compete Thursday in the CIF Southern Section Team Regionals at Yucaipa Valley Golf Club.

SUNSET LEAGUE FINALS

Jennie Lee of Edison shot an even-par 36 over nine holes on Monday and an even 72 over 18 holes on Tuesday at El Prado Golf Course to take first with an even 108. Jeniffer Osborn of Marina shot 41-70--111 to finish second, Lauren Smith of Esperanza shot 42-85--127 for third and Kelly Humphry of Los Alamitos shot 44-86--130 to become the final league qualifier for the CIF Individual Finals on Thusday, Nov. 11 at Mission Lake Country Club in Desert Hot Springs.

Monday, Nov. 1

DESERT VALLEY LEAGUE INDIVIDUAL FINALS

Ester Choe of La Quinta finished first, shooting a nine-under-par 99 over 27 holes. The first nine holes were played at Cimarron Country Club and the final 18 were at Desert Willow Golf Resort.

Casey McIntosh of Palm Desert finished second, shooting 113 and Alana Erlandson also of Palm Desert finished third at 119 and will represent the league at the CIF Southern Section Indidividual Final at Mission Lakes Country Club in Desert Hot Springs on Nov. 11.

Palm Desert golfers, Jaymee Braun shot 125, Erin Stashi shot 126 and Kelly McDaniel shot 130 to round out the top six and earn all-league honors

FOOTHILL LEAGUE

Grace Woo of Burbank shot an even-par 37 to earn league MVP honors. Melanie De Leon of Saugus also shot 37 to share medalist honors with Woo. Valencia, Hart and Saugus all advance to the CIF Team competition on Nov. 4th and 5th. Stevy Loy posted a 41 for Valencia (24-9-1). Ashley Redmond and Keshia Peris each carded a 44 for Hart (25-11-1). Stephanie Aston added a 41 for Saugus (25-8-1).

MISSION LEAGUE INDIVIDUAL FINALS

Freshman Sarah Salvo of Sherman Oaks Notre Dame shot 74 at Woodley Lakes Golf Course and 75 at Encino Golf Course for a two-under-par 149. Faith DeGuzman of Notre Dame shot 74-77--151and finishing third Ally Young of Harvard-Westlake shot 82-83--165. The top three will represent the league Nov. 11 at Mission Lake Country Club in Desert Hot Springs at the CIF Southern Section Individual Final.

Hillary Mow of Harvard-Westlake shot 166, Lauren Wheeler of Flintridge Sacred Heart shot 178, Natasha Plengsangtip of Notre Dame shot 179 and Marcela Campbell of Flintridge Sacred Heart shot 184 to round out the top seven and earn all-league honors.

Notre Dame, Harvard-Westlake and Chaminade each will represent the Mission League at the CIF Central Divisional Finals beginning Thursday at Yucaipa Valley Golf Club.

NONLEAGUE

Crescenta Valley 232, San Marino 236
Amy Pramuantong shot a six-over-par 40 and Christine Cho had a 41 to lead Crescenta Valley (9-4) past San Marino (6-7) in a nonleauge match at Alhambra Golf Course. Nicole Young of San Marino shot a three-over-par 39 to earn medalist honors.
