Five takeaways from the Clippers’ victory over the Thunder

Share

Here are five takeaways from the Clippers’ 110-108 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday night.

1. J.J. Redick is starting to get his shooting stroke working in high gear for the Clippers.

Redick made four-of-seven three-pointers in the Clippers’ victory over Oklahoma City Friday night. It was his season-high in three-pointers made.

He was six-for-12 from the field and finished the game with 16 points.

2. The Clippers shot the basketball well from three-point range.

They shot 40.7% from three-ball range, going 11-for-27.

Perhaps the biggest three-pointer of the game for the Clippers was the three Jamal Crawford made with 48.9 seconds left.

That gave the Clippers a 109-104 lead.

3. Chris Paul prides himself on taking care of the basketball.

So in turn, the Clippers take it seriously when they have too many turnovers.

Against the Thunder, the Clippers had just 10 turnovers.

4. Almost every game, Luc Mbah a Moute is given the toughest defensive assignment of the night. On Friday night, Mbah a Moute had to deal with the force of Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook.

Mbah a Moute was up to the task.

Westbrook may have had a game-high 29 points, but he was just nine-for-25 from the field.

After the game was over, Mbah a Moute looked tired, but he had done his job.

5. The momentum of the game was shifting away from the Clippers.

Their eight-point lead had slipped into a 102-102 tie late in the game.

Their offense was sputtering some.

In stepped Marreese Speights.

Speights hit a step-back 21-foot jumper to break a tie, giving the Clippers a lead they never lost again.

Speights had just four points, but his last two were big.
