Watch Clippers owner Steve Ballmer go crazy after Chris Paul layup

Share

Clippers owner Steve Ballmer is known for his demonstrative, over-the-top emotional displays from his courtside seat near the team’s bench.

When Blake Griffin made a monster dunk over Aron Baynes, immediately followed by a Chris Paul layup with 42.1 seconds left in the third quarter that capped off a 20-7 run that put the Clippers up, 79-61, Ballmer lost it.

He stood up, screamed and bobbed like an excited baby.

Reporters can often hear Ballmer screaming from his baseline seat all the way to midcourt. Oh, and there was that time Fergie performed at a Clippers game in January, and the former Microsoft CEO stood in front of his seat, waved his arms, and alternated between lifting his right and left legs as though he was trying to attract the attention of a rescue helicopter.

Ballmer bought the Clippers for $2 billion in August. In a column that Blake Griffin wrote for the Players’ Tribune in October, Griffin compared Ballmer to a ‘cool dad who gives you candy’ while likening former Clippers’ owner Donald Sterling to a ‘weird uncle.’

The Clippers went on to win Game 1 against the defending champion San Antonio Spurs, 107-92. Game 2 will be Wednesday at Staples Center at 7:30 p.m.
